Every quarter, our meeting elects new trusted servants for service positions including meeting chair, secretary and zoom tech. In December of each year, we elect a new GSR who represents us at Intergroup for the following year. We don’t presently have clean time requirements for serving. We believe service keeps us sober and encourage fellows to serve if they are willing and able.
Since we are 1 meeting on 5 days, we have up to 15 positions available per quarter. Please use the form on this page to submit your name to be included in the running for each position. This will help us streamline the election process and ensure everyone gets a fair chance at serving.
Your contribution and service is greatly appreciated. Thank you for making DZR happen!
The meeting chair facilitates the meeting and maintains order. The chair position reads from the prepared script and then has the duty of calling on participants when they raise their hands to share. If a meeting chooses to not elect a zoom tech, then these duties fall on the chair which includes opening the meeting 15 minutes prior to the start time, projecting readings via screen sharing, and lowering hands as needed. Chairs are also responsible for finding speakers for their designated speaker meeting format days.
The secretary’s primary duty is to facilitate half-time which includes calling for clean time and giving out rounds of applause. A prepared script is provided which outlines the positions duties. The secretary simply reads from the script. Secretaries may be called upon to sign attendance verification forms as well.
The meeting zoom tech is tasked with all the technical aspects of running Zoom including opening the meeting 15 minutes prior to the start time, projecting readings for participants via screen sharing, letting people into the meeting, muting participants, lowering hands, etc. Zoom techs are also tasked with securing the meeting to ensure no Zoom bombers get in and interrupt our meeting. We have a training guide available for new Zoom techs that details the ins and outs of this position as well as an entire portal with documents for easy access.
The GSR or General Service Representative is a 1 year elected position that serves from Jan 1 – December 31 of a given calendar year. Their primary duty is to represent our meeting at Intergroup and attend the monthly Intergroup meeting which occurs the last Tuesday of each month. They also are tasked with reading announcements at half-time when available.
