CSS-driven backdrops that animate or sit static behind the surface. Each preset is dark-mode aware and respects prefers-reduced-motion. The chosen background paints behind any solid colour or uploaded image you've also configured. Each tile previews a fresh random palette — your saved colours and texture live on the Options tab.

∅ None Solid colour or uploaded image only — no dynamic backdrop.

Aurora blobs Three brand-tinted blurred circles drifting on a soft tinted backdrop. Calm, premium feel. Best for hero / page-level backgrounds.

Mesh gradient Static multi-stop mesh of brand colours layered with conic gradients. No motion — quiet but interesting.

Pattern tile A seamless geometric pattern over a solid or gradient backdrop. Pick a motif or let it spawn a random one each load, then dial in scale, line weight and rotation.

Classic & retiring — kept so existing surfaces keep rendering, not a first choice for new work. Classic marks the version a preset had before the light/dark rework, so a site designed against it can be moved over one surface at a time; Retiring marks one being phased out. Everything else (per-mode colours, tone, texture) works on them the same way.

Aurora blobs (classic)Classic The original Aurora blobs recipe — same drifting circles at their old pale opacity, with the pre-rework fixed tempo. For designs built before the tone sliders landed.

Mesh gradient (classic)Classic The original Mesh gradient recipe — the same conic mesh at its old washed-out opacity. For designs built before the tone sliders landed.

Aurora bands (classic)Classic Wide angled colour bands sweeping across the surface with a slow drift. Reads as soft northern lights. Retired in the rework and restored here, under its original key, so surfaces that still point at it render again.

Dotted gridRetiring Subtle dot pattern on a flat backdrop. Adds texture without competing with content. Being phased out — the Pattern tile preset covers the same ground with a far wider motif library.

Diagonal linesRetiring Soft diagonal stripe pattern. Quiet structural texture for cards and section bands. Being phased out — the Pattern tile preset covers the same ground with a far wider motif library.

Animation Freeze movementStops the keyframe animation on this preset (blobs / bands stay where they're first painted). Useful for marketing screenshots, low-power devices, or visitors who find motion distracting.
