The 20th Annual Ms. Summer Serenity Pageant All-Stars Edition: A Night of Glitz, Glam, and Questionable Talent!
Ladies, gentlemen, and fabulous beings of all kinds, it’s time once again for the most highly anticipated, slightly chaotic, and absolutely unforgettable night of the year—the 20th Annual Ms. Summer Serenity Pageant!
For two decades, brave souls with big dreams (and sometimes even bigger hair) have taken the stage, strutting their stuff, lip-syncing their hearts out, and occasionally tripping over their own heels—all in the name of charity. And this year, we’re pulling out ALL the stops to celebrate our 20th anniversary in style!
Not only will we be crowning a brand-new champion (who will receive a lifetime supply of glory and exactly zero dollars in prize money), but we’re also bringing back some of our legendary past winners and a few of Shane’s all-time favorite performers from the last 20 years. That’s right—an all-star lineup of drag icons who have graced our stage, stolen our hearts, and possibly stolen some wigs along the way.
Expect death drops, high kicks, low morals, and enough sequins to blind an audience member in the cheap seats. Our competitors—some seasoned, some brand-new, and all equally unqualified—will battle it out in categories like talent, Q & A, and the ever-important ability to keep a wig on through vigorous choreography.
But remember, folks—this isn’t just about fierce competition and a chance to see someone attempt a cartwheel in stilettos. This is a fundraiser for the Triangle Club, so every ticket sold, every dollar donated, and every loose bill tucked into a queen’s bra goes directly to supporting a cause that truly makes a difference.
So grab your dollar bills, bring your loudest cheers, and prepare for a night of laughter, lipstick, and legendary moments. Because if there’s one thing we know after 20 years of this pageant, it’s that anything can happen—and it usually does.
See you there, darling!

DC CMA is getting a group together to see the play “The Swallow” on June 6th at 7:30 pm. Tickets can be purchased at the link below. Interested in going? Reach out to Cody T or Victor S.
The play “La Golondrina” (“The Swallow”) by Spanish writer Guillem Clua (SMILEY, Netfilx) brings together Amelia and Ramón. Amelia, a strict singing teacher, receives Ramón at her home because he wants to improve his vocal technique to sing at his recently deceased mother’s mass. As the lesson progresses, the two characters reveal details of their past, a past deeply marked by the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando where 49 members of our LGBTQ+ community were killed in the second deadliest mass shooting in the USA.
The true meaning of that attack, the motivations of the shooter, and the lingering shadow of its victims lead to a confrontation between Amelia and Ramón that forces them to uncover the truth. This truth compels them to reflect on their own identities, the acceptance of loss, and the fragility of love, laying themselves bare to such an extent that their fates become forever intertwined.
TRIGGER WARNING: This play explores themes of mass shootings and may be triggering for survivors of gun violence or those who have experienced trauma related to gun violence.

Russ R, Mark W, and Michael E invite you to join us for the Second Round of these experiences – a study of the Traditions through the NA book It Works: How and Why. To assure everyone gets the most out of the experience, we are asking each participant to commit to participating in all six Zoom sessions from 8:00 – 10:00 am on consecutive Saturdays starting September 11th and have at least 90 days clean. You will also need a notebook and pen, and your own copy of It Works: How and Why. To join us for this meaningful, fun experience, please email Mark W. [email protected].
Study details:
Book Study – The Twelve Traditions (to be Followed by the Twelve Steps)
As described by its authors, the Traditions section of It Works: How and Why “serves as a resource for groups and the individual member. It seeks to explore the spiritual principles within the Traditions, engage members with the spirit — not the law — of the Traditions, and provide a basis for thought and discussion about the Traditions. Rather than creating a uniform authority for recovery groups, the book’s authors sought to stimulate “local interpretation of the practical application of the principles contained in the traditions.” This is our goal – to deepen our understanding of the Traditions both for individual recoveries and in service to our local CMA fellowship.
To assure everyone gets the most out of the experience, we are asking each participant to commit to participating in all six Zoom sessions from 8:00 – 10:00 am on consecutive Saturdays starting September 11th . You will also need a notebook and pen, and your own copy of It Works: How and Why. We recommend a hard copy, but the Kindle version will also work. We are also recommending that participants have a sponsor and at least 90 days clean.
To join us for this meaningful, fun experience, please email [email protected]. We are limiting the number of participants to assure an interactive experience for everyone – first come, first served. In addition, we will give first priority for the second, 12-week book study of the Twelve Steps that will start later this year to those who participate in the Traditions book study.
Book Study Sessions (all on Zoom from 8:00 – 10:00 am):1. Saturday, September 11, 2021: Traditions 1 and 22. Saturday, September 18, 2020: Traditions 3 and 43. Saturday, September 25, 2020: Traditions 5 and 64. Saturday, October 2, 2020: Traditions 7 and 85. Saturday, October 9, 2020: Traditions 9 and 106. Saturday, October 16, 2020: Traditions 11 and 12
